Trail Cam video

Post by sweetandsour » Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:14 pm

A relaxing, and pretty neat video from a trail cam.

I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

I saw this in my YouTube feed a few days ago, pretty cool.

I was a licensed trapper for many years here on the Moonbase, many years ago and placing a 3/32 snare on a log just like this netted several very nice bobcat and a few coyotes.

This has really gone viral. I first saw it about a month ago. I was really disappointed it didn't capture a Sasquatch.

I ran traps for a few weeks the winter I turned fifteen. I caught 1 racoon, 3 muskrat, and 5 crows.

Not bad, Fred, but I’ve done much better with my traps.
I’ve trapped many dozens of fur bearing ...

mice, over the years. Several in the back of my Jeep this very week.
I did try to use mouse fur to tie Adams dry flies once (waste not, want not) - did not float as well as muskrat.

I've trapped a few mice this winter, in the garage and in the kitchen. Pretty sure I need to keep trapping.

Otherwise years ago I'd catch nutria, muskrats, and occasional racoons. Sometimes there'd be only knawed off rat paws in the trap, which I simply couldn't fathom, and I soon quit trapping for fur.

There are ways to prevent such a thing but I wont get into it. I get that trapping isnt everyone's cup of tea but it is an continues to be an important part of wildlife management.
