Presents are exchanged, Santa has made his delivery. Feeling a little like Clark Griswold and smoking a Java red robusto.

PDR Capa Cafe Natural. Think I should have let it rest more before smoking.

Smoked a Highclere Castle, either a Toro or Corona, from the 2019 cigar box pass, courtesy of Hugo. I lit it up on about the 10th green during today's round of golf. It's an elegant and an excellent, cigar, a great smoke, and it wouldn't go out when paused for the golf shots. I shot an 88 btw, and should have been at least an 84 if not for the 13th hole par 5 hole that cost me 10 strokes. Anyway it lasted thru the back 9, the ride home, and a few quiet minutes on the back porch. Good flavor all the way down to the nub.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

A Rocky Patel 1999, gifted to me for my birthday. It's about 1/3 gone and doing fine, staying lit, good flavor, fairly mild so far.

Didn't purchase, but our local Walgreens now carries Punch cigars.

Ooh! I will have to check ours. Used to be you could get those individually bagged Punch, Macanudo or Romeo y Juliette at the local gas stations. That stopped a while ago but they still have acids.

I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

Flores y Rodriguez Tamboril, while on a dove shoot this weekend. A fine little cigar, from AKPreacher, and thanks to his generosity. I bought a few cigars at a great price anyway and received a few bonus cigars. Excellent smokes, too.

Unusually warm weather in NC for mid-January. As soon as I got home from church I put on shorts and flip-flops and smoked a La Colonia toro on the front porch - the first couple sticks I thought were a bit too mild, but I'm beginning to pick out more flavors in them after smoking some more. Reading material started out with an article in Modern Reformation magazine, and ended up moving on to Lonesome Dove - which is shaping up to be one of my all-time favorite novels. Image
